Premium solar panels from the world's leading manufacturers, expertly installed by MCS-accredited engineers across Leeds and West Yorkshire.
The solar panel market has matured enormously over the past decade. Today's panels are more powerful, more efficient and more reliable than ever before — and prices have fallen to the point where solar is one of the best financial investments a Yorkshire homeowner can make.
However, not all solar panels are equal. There are significant differences in efficiency, temperature performance, warranty terms and long-term degradation rates between budget and premium products. Leeds Solar only supplies panels from manufacturers we trust — brands with strong UK track records, robust product warranties and proven performance data.
During your free survey, we'll discuss your priorities — whether that's maximum output from limited roof space, the best value per pound spent, the longest warranty or the lowest degradation rate — and recommend the panel range that best fits your needs and budget.
All panels we supply come with a product warranty (covering manufacturing defects) of at least 12 years and a performance warranty guaranteeing at least 80% of rated output after 25 years. We only work with manufacturers that have genuine UK warranty support — not those whose warranty claims would require shipping panels to a factory overseas.
One of the world's largest panel manufacturers, JA Solar's DeepBlue and JAM series offer outstanding efficiency (up to 22.4%) at excellent value. 12-year product warranty and 30-year linear performance warranty. Our most popular panel for residential installations.
Norwegian-founded REC panels are among the best performing in cool, cloudy conditions — making them ideal for Yorkshire's climate. The REC Alpha series features heterojunction technology for superior low-light performance and a class-leading 25-year product warranty.
A top-tier Tier 1 manufacturer with a 20+ year track record, Trina's Vertex S and Honey series deliver solid efficiency and long-term reliability. Excellent value proposition with a strong UK distribution network for warranty support.
German-engineered Q CELLS panels are renowned for their Q.ANTUM technology which delivers strong performance in partial shading and diffuse light conditions — making them a solid choice for any Yorkshire roof with some shade challenges.
Consistent top-10 global manufacturer with strong bankability and track record. Jinko's Tiger Neo N-type series delivers efficiencies over 22% with a 30-year linear performance warranty. Popular for larger residential and commercial systems.
The premium choice — Sunpower's Maxeon panels deliver the highest efficiency of any commercially available panel (up to 24.1%) with the industry's best 40-year performance warranty. Ideal where roof space is very limited.
A panel's power rating (e.g., 400Wp or 450Wp) is its output under Standard Test Conditions — the industry benchmark of 1,000W/m² irradiance, 25°C cell temperature, and 1.5 air mass. Higher Wp means more electricity per panel. Modern residential panels typically range from 380Wp to 450Wp, whilst commercial panels can reach 550Wp+.
Efficiency is the percentage of sunlight that a panel converts into electricity. A 22% efficient panel generates 22% more power from the same area than a 17% panel. Higher efficiency matters most when roof space is limited. Current top-tier residential panels achieve 21–24% efficiency.
Solar panels actually produce slightly less electricity as they get hot — and the temperature coefficient tells you by how much per degree above 25°C. A coefficient of -0.25%/°C is excellent; -0.40%/°C is average. In Yorkshire's cool climate this matters less than in southern Europe, but it's still worth considering.
All solar panels degrade slightly each year — the rate at which they do so determines how much electricity they generate after 10, 15 or 25 years. Premium panels from manufacturers like REC and Sunpower degrade at only 0.25–0.30% per year; budget panels may degrade at 0.55–0.70% per year. Over 25 years, this difference is significant.
The product warranty covers manufacturing defects (typically 12–25 years). The performance warranty guarantees minimum output — most reputable manufacturers guarantee at least 80% of rated output after 25 years. Sunpower's Maxeon panels uniquely offer a 40-year performance warranty.
All panels we supply are monocrystalline — the more efficient, better-looking and longer-lasting technology. Polycrystalline panels (identifiable by their blue speckled appearance) have largely been superseded and are no longer installed by Leeds Solar.
The number of panels depends on your roof space, your energy usage and your generation targets. As a rough guide, a typical 3–4 bedroom house benefits from 12–16 panels (approximately 5–6kWp). Our survey and design process calculates the optimal system size for your specific home and electricity consumption profile.
Modern solar panels are designed for a minimum 25-year service life, with many lasting 30–40 years. Performance warranties guarantee at least 80% of rated output at 25 years. The panels themselves are solid-state devices with no moving parts — there's very little that can go wrong mechanically. Most degradation is a gradual, predictable process rather than sudden failure.
It depends on your priorities. If roof space is very limited, premium high-efficiency panels may generate significantly more electricity from the same area, justifying the extra cost. If you have ample roof space, a mid-range panel from a Tier 1 manufacturer delivers excellent performance and value. We'll model the financial case for different panel options during your quote consultation.
