Terms & Conditions

Last updated: 1 January 2025

1. Introduction

These terms and conditions ("Terms") govern the supply of solar panel installation, battery storage, EV charger installation, maintenance and repair services ("Services") by Leeds Solar ("we", "us", "our") to the customer ("you"). Please read these Terms carefully before accepting a quotation.

By signing and returning a quotation or authorising us to commence work, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

2. Quotations

2.1 All quotations are valid for 30 days from the date of issue unless otherwise stated.

2.2 Quotations are based on information provided during the survey and may be subject to revision if on-site conditions differ materially from those surveyed.

2.3 We reserve the right to withdraw or amend a quotation prior to acceptance.

2.4 VAT is charged at the prevailing rate. Residential solar panel installations are currently zero-rated for VAT. Commercial installations are subject to standard-rate VAT at 20%.

3. Payment Terms

3.1 A deposit of 10% of the contract value is payable upon acceptance of the quotation.

3.2 The balance is payable on completion of installation and commissioning.

3.3 Payment may be made by bank transfer, card or approved finance arrangement.

3.4 We reserve the right to charge interest on overdue payments at 8% per annum above the Bank of England base rate under the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998.

4. Installation

4.1 We will use reasonable endeavours to complete installation on the agreed date. We will not be liable for delays caused by circumstances beyond our reasonable control.

4.2 You are responsible for ensuring adequate access to your property and that the installation area is cleared prior to our arrival.

4.3 We may need to isolate your electricity supply for a period during installation. We will agree a convenient time for this with you in advance.

4.4 Any variation to the agreed specification must be agreed in writing and may result in an additional charge.

4.5 You are responsible for ensuring you have the necessary planning permissions or permitted development rights for the installation. We will advise on planning requirements but are not liable if permission is subsequently refused or revoked.

5. Workmanship Warranty

5.1 We provide a 2-year workmanship warranty covering defects arising from our installation that are not caused by misuse, accidental damage, third-party interference, storm damage or Acts of God.

5.2 Panel and inverter product warranties are provided by the respective manufacturers and are subject to their terms and conditions, which we will provide to you on completion.

5.3 Warranty claims must be notified to us promptly in writing. We will inspect and, if the claim is valid under warranty, rectify at no charge.

6. MCS Certification

6.1 All solar PV installations are carried out by our MCS-accredited engineers and registered on the MCS database. You will receive an MCS Installation Certificate upon completion.

6.2 The MCS certificate is required to claim Smart Export Guarantee (SEG) payments. We are not responsible for your energy supplier's SEG application process or payment terms.

7. Cancellation

7.1 If you are a consumer (domestic customer), you have a 14-day right to cancel following acceptance of a quotation. Cancellation must be notified in writing.

7.2 If installation has already commenced at your request within the 14-day period, we may charge for work carried out and materials ordered.

7.3 If you cancel after the 14-day cooling-off period, we reserve the right to retain the deposit and charge for any costs reasonably incurred.

8. Liability

8.1 Our liability to you for any claim arising out of or in connection with the Services shall not exceed the total value of the contract.

8.2 We shall not be liable for indirect or consequential losses, loss of profits, loss of anticipated savings, or any claim arising from a failure to obtain planning permission.

8.3 Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraudulent misrepresentation.

9. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

10. Contact
